Karusa Kiragu is the Director of Change Management at the UNAIDS Secretariat in Geneva. In this role, she continues her responsibilities coordinating the implementation of the ongoing alignment and change processes, to ensure that UNAIDS’ financial and human resources are optimized to meet the goals of the Global AIDS Strategy.
She is presently facilitating the transition of the organization into new ways of working in order to achieve the alignment objectives. She leads the team overseeing the culture transformation of UNAIDS into a more equal, safer and empowering organization.
She also leads the internal communication team that ensures that UNAIDS staff are adequately informed and have opportunities to engage.
Prior to her role in Geneva, Dr. Kiragu was the UNAIDS Country Director in Uganda.
A native of Kenya, she is a public health specialist and epidemiologist and received her Ph.D is from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
